| Awareness Systems, LLC was formed in theory many years ago. After witnessing the Columbine tragedies and the VA Tech Massacres unfold on our television sets we constantly asked ourselves what could we do? What if my kids were at those schools? Why isn’t there a system in place to help protect our children and loved ones? The technology to prevent such tragedy has been available for many years in other markets such as long term care (independent and assisted living) The same technology is now being reapplied to prevent loss of life and notify key personnel of emergency situations in K-12 schools, universities and courtrooms, and other organizations across the country. The impact of such technology is significant and necessary in order to be prepared to avoid tragedy. Many such institutions and organizations are developing a Disaster Preparedness Plan with emergency notification and alerting being the core priority. Today’s buildings and campuses have existing systems in place such as security, access control, fire alarm systems and other technology aimed at keeping people safe. These systems do a great job of detecting potential situations but what happens next? Integrating these existing systems and combining into a common alerting system that leverages modern technology tools such as mobile phones and PDAs, desktop computers and other devices enhances the functionality of these existing systems while making the building or campus safer. Our Awareness systems are very flexible and are adaptable to many different environments. A few examples of how we can notify and alert would be; providing text messaging, make calls to land line phones, call cell phones, e-mail, make announcements over the PA or loud speakers and we can have messages displayed on digital reader boards throughout a campus. This technology keeps people better informed and safe in the event of an emergency situation. We believe that being in the life safety business means that “every second counts”. Our goal is to ensure that there is an awareness system in every school and college in the United States. We want to make others aware that there are affordable systems that can adapt to preexisting environments that can enable life safety and save lives. Lives can be saved with the simplest of system designs. |
